Belleville Township High School District #201 Named Inaugural Beacon School Award-Winner By Education Technology Partners

(L-R) Education Technology Partners CEO and Founder Randy Jennings presents the inaugural Beacon School Award to Greg Moats, superintendent, and Marci Reeves, teacher, of Belleville Township High School District #201.
ST. LOUIS, MO — JULY 21, 2008 Education Technology Partners, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, has announced the recipient of its inaugural Beacon School Award — Belleville Township High School District #201. Education Technology Partners developed the Beacon School Award to recognize demonstrative leadership, educational best practices and the exemplary use of technology to further student achievement.  The goal of the Beacon School Award campaign is to build the profile of educators, schools and school districts who have seen first-hand the extraordinary impact that the right technology solutions can have in helping at-risk students.

“Receiving the Beacon School Award is really a tribute to our staff at both Belleville East and Belleville West,” said Dr. Greg Moats, superintendent of Belleville Township High School District #201. “Our partnership with Education Technology Partners has resulted in one of the best implementations we have ever had — in terms of the ease of software installation and, more importantly, in the positive impact it has had in helping our students.

As part of a comprehensive plan to improve student learning and test scores, the district has integrated the literacy intervention software programs Academy of READING and Academy of MATH by AutoSkill.  Students who struggle with reading or math spend several hours per week at the computer, receiving individualized instruction through the use of the Academy of READING and Academy of MATH. The software programs use a patented methodology with an adaptive intervention engine, skill mastery based on automaticity and motivational principles to build fluency in the foundation skills of reading and mathematics.

“We truly believe that the right technology, used in the right way, can impact students in amazing and very positive ways,” said Randy Jennings, CEO and founder of Education Technology Partners.  “Years of scientifically-based research supports this as well.  And that’s why Belleville is such a deserving recipient of the inaugural Beacon School Award.  Having seen the gains first-hand in their students, they have graciously shared this information with both Illinois and Missouri educators that have visited the district.  They are a shining example of what dedicated educators can accomplish when given the right tools and the right training.”
